Technical Description

The 2000 Haas VF0E is a 3-axis vertical machining center and the extended-Z-travel variant of the Haas VF0 platform, offering additional Z-axis clearance for taller workpieces, deeper cavities, and longer tooling configurations compared to the standard VF0. Axis travels measure 20" in X, 16" in Y, and 25" in Z — the E suffix denoting the 5" extension in Z travel relative to the standard VF0's 20" Z stroke. The worktable measures 20" x 16" and accepts standard T-slot fixturing. The spindle is rated at 20 HP continuous with a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM on a CAT40 taper, providing adequate power for general-purpose milling, drilling, boring, and tapping of steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The extended Z axis makes the VF0E particularly useful for die cavity work, tall fixture assemblies, and machining of components that would exceed the clearance envelope of the standard VF0. The machine is controlled by the Haas CNC control, offering conversational and G-code programming, a built-in toolpath display, rigid tapping, and a full library of canned drilling and milling cycles. The compact footprint and weight of approximately 7,500 lbs make installation straightforward in facilities with limited space. The VF0E has been discontinued, but used units remain available and continue to serve in toolroom, prototype, and light-production applications where the extended Z travel provides a practical advantage over the base VF0 model.
