Technical Description

The 2018 Haas VF2SSYT is a 3-axis vertical machining center combining the high-speed Super Speed spindle platform with an integrated Y-axis trunnion table, enabling 4th and 5th axis indexing within a compact VMC footprint. It provides a work envelope of 30 inches in X, 16 inches in Y, and 20 inches in Z, and is powered by a 20 HP vector dual-drive spindle motor with a 12,000 RPM CAT40 spindle. The integrated trunnion table allows the machine to tilt and rotate workpieces, enabling multi-face machining in a single setup and significantly reducing fixturing complexity for complex parts such as aerospace components, medical implants, and intricate die and mold geometry. The table measures 36 x 14 inches. The machine runs the Haas Next Generation Control (NGC), providing a touchscreen interface, built-in Wi-Fi, USB connectivity, and advanced program editing capabilities. The machine is built on the rigid cast iron VF2 base for structural stability during high-speed contouring and multi-axis indexing. The VF2SSYT supports through-spindle coolant and high-pressure coolant options, and includes a fully enclosed work area with chip and coolant containment. It weighs approximately 8,500 lbs. This platform offers a cost-effective path to multi-axis capability without requiring a dedicated 5-axis machining center.
