Technical Description

The 2008 Haas VF2TR is a 5-axis vertical machining center built on the VF2 platform with a built-in rotary/tilt trunnion table, providing simultaneous 4th- and 5th-axis machining capability in a compact mid-range VMC envelope. X/Y/Z travels measure 30 x 16 x 20 inches, and the integrated trunnion enables full A- and B-axis rotation for complex multi-sided parts to be completed in a single setup. The CAT40 gearhead spindle delivers a continuous rating of 20 HP and reaches a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, providing the torque needed for aggressive stock removal in steel and cast iron. A side-mount tool changer accommodates up to 30+1 tools, and the machine features servo-driven axes with high-speed rapids and full contouring in all five axes. The Haas CNC control provides conversational programming, rigid tapping, tool-length compensation, and built-in diagnostics for ease of operation and maintenance. Chip management is handled by a standard chip auger with optional chip conveyor, and coolant delivery includes programmable coolant nozzles. The enclosed work envelope with full guarding meets standard safety requirements for production environments. Designed for job shops and contract manufacturers requiring multi-axis flexibility without the footprint of a dedicated 5-axis machining center, the VF2TR weighs approximately 9,000 lbs and integrates easily into existing VMC workflows while delivering true simultaneous 5-axis contouring capability.
