A+Technical Description
The 2004 Haas VF3B is a 3-axis vertical machining center built on the VF3 platform with a larger spindle bore, making it particularly well-suited to boring, facing, and heavy-diameter tooling applications. X/Y/Z travels measure 40 x 20 x 25 inches and the machine mounts workpieces on a 48 x 18 inch T-slot table capable of handling substantial workpiece weights. The CAT40 gearhead spindle delivers 30 HP of continuous power and a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, with the larger bore accommodating oversize toolholders and facing heads required in mold, die, and heavy-component machining. The 20+1 side-mount automatic tool changer supports a wide variety of tooling configurations, and high-speed servo-driven axes with full-travel rapids minimize non-cutting time across large workpiece traversals. The Haas CNC control provides conversational G-code programming, rigid tapping, tool-length compensation, cutter radius compensation, and built-in machine diagnostics. Programmable coolant delivery and a standard chip auger maintain chip and coolant management during extended production cycles. The fully enclosed work envelope with interlocked safety doors meets standard production safety requirements. At approximately 13,000 lbs with a footprint of roughly 160 x 98 x 106 inches, the VF3B offers the same large-travel capability as the standard VF3 with the added flexibility of a larger bore spindle, making it a practical choice for tooling rooms, mold shops, and contract manufacturers working with oversize boring and facing operations.
