A+Technical Description
The 2020 Haas VF3D is a 3-axis vertical machining center built on the extended-Y platform of the VF3 series, offering an expanded work envelope well suited to larger prismatic parts and die/mold applications. The machine provides X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 40, 26.5, and 25 inches respectively, accommodating workpieces that would exceed the capacity of a standard VF3. The worktable measures 48 by 18 inches and accepts a load capacity of 3,000 lbs. Spindle drive is a 30 HP vector dual-drive motor turning a CAT40 taper at speeds up to 7,500 RPM, delivering full contouring capability across all three linear axes. Machine control is provided by the Haas NGC, which features a color touchscreen interface, intuitive Haas programming environment, Ethernet and USB connectivity, and comprehensive G-code and macro support. Standard equipment includes a 24-pocket side-mount tool changer, rigid tapping, through-spindle coolant preparation, and programmable coolant nozzle. The VF3D casting design incorporates box-way construction on all axes, providing the rigidity necessary for heavy material removal in steel, cast iron, and titanium. Rapid traverse reaches 700 IPM on X and Y and 600 IPM on Z. At approximately 14,500 lbs, the VF3D provides the structural mass needed for vibration damping and sustained accuracy in demanding production environments. It is a strong candidate for toolrooms and job shops requiring extended Y-axis reach without stepping up to a larger machine class.
