Technical Description

The 2005 Haas VF3SS APC is a 3-axis Super Speed vertical machining center equipped with an automatic pallet changer, combining the high-speed capability of the VF3SS platform with automated workpiece exchange for unattended or lights-out production. The machine provides X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 40, 20, and 25 inches respectively, with a 48 by 18 inch worktable and 3,000 lb load capacity. The 30 HP spindle drives a CAT40 taper at up to 12,000 RPM, supporting aluminum and light-alloy machining strategies where spindle speed is a primary productivity lever. The two-pallet APC system allows one pallet to be loaded and fixtured while the machine continues cutting on the other, effectively eliminating part-change downtime in serial production. The Haas CNC control manages pallet scheduling alongside conventional CNC functions, and supports standard G-code, parametric macros, USB and Ethernet connectivity. Standard features include a 24-pocket side-mount tool changer, rigid tapping, through-spindle coolant preparation, and programmable coolant nozzle. At approximately 13,000 lbs, the VF3SS APC offers a well-balanced combination of speed, capacity, and automation density for shops seeking higher spindle utilization without a large-format machining center footprint.
