The 1997 Haas VF4 APC is a 3-axis vertical machining center featuring an integrated automatic pallet changer, built on the proven Haas VF4 platform to deliver high-throughput, automated production capability in a large work envelope. The machine provides 50 inches in X, 20 inches in Y, and 25 inches in Z, with a 60- by 20-inch T-slot work surface that accommodates large and complex workpieces across a wide range of materials and industries. The 30 HP continuous-duty spindle reaches 7,500 RPM through a CAT40 taper, providing the torque and cutting speed required for aggressive stock removal as well as precision finishing operations in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and titanium. A 24-tool side-mount automatic tool changer enables multi-process work without operator intervention, and the Haas CNC delivers a comprehensive suite of programming features including macro capability, canned cycles, and full conversational programming support. The integrated automatic pallet changer enables true lights-out and unmanned machining capability, allowing one pallet to be loaded and fixtured while the spindle continues cutting on the other, dramatically increasing spindle utilization and throughput. This configuration makes the VF4 APC particularly effective in high-mix production environments where setup time is a significant cost driver, as one operator can manage fixturing on the idle pallet while the machine runs unattended.
