The 2015 Haas VF4D is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed specifically for die, mold, and large tooling applications, featuring an extended Y-axis travel of 26.5 inches that provides greater reach across the wider 60- by 26-inch T-slot work table compared to the standard VF4 configuration. This machine is a current-generation VF4D, the die and mold-optimized variant of the Haas VF4 platform, offering expanded Y-axis reach and a wider table to support complex cavity work and large tooling components. The full work envelope of 50 inches in X, 26.5 inches in Y, and 25 inches in Z accommodates large mold bases, cavity plates, and core inserts that would challenge a narrower VMC, making the VF4D a natural choice for shops producing tooling for automotive, consumer products, and aerospace composite applications. The 30 HP continuous-duty spindle operates at up to 7,500 RPM through a CAT40 taper, providing the torque needed for both heavy roughing in tool steel and P20, and the controlled finishing passes required to achieve low-roughness surfaces in mold cavities. A 24-tool side-mount automatic tool changer enables the multi-step operations typical of die and mold work — roughing, semi-finishing, finishing, and electrode machining — all in a single setup.
