The 2020 Haas VF5 is a 3-axis vertical machining center and one of the largest standard-configuration VMCs in the Haas VF-Series lineup, offering a generous work envelope of 60 inches in X, 26 inches in Y, and 25 inches in Z, paired with a 72- by 24-inch T-slot work table that accommodates the largest workpieces typically encountered in production VMC machining. This is current-generation example of the VF5, representing a modern large-format VMC with the Haas design philosophy of integrating industrial-class construction with an approachable, operator-friendly CNC interface. The 30 HP continuous-duty spindle reaches 7,500 RPM through a CAT40 taper, generating the torque and power needed for aggressive roughing in steel, cast iron, and aluminum, as well as for sustained finishing operations on large contoured surfaces. A 24-tool side-mount automatic tool changer enables complex multi-step programs — roughing, semi-finishing, finishing, and drilling — all in a single setup without repositioning. The Haas NGC delivers full programming capability including macro support, canned cycles, and conversational programming features that make the machine accessible across a range of operator skill levels. The VF5's substantial cast-iron construction, weighing approximately 22,000 lbs, provides exceptional rigidity and vibration damping that translates directly into accuracy and surface finish quality on large, heavy workpieces.
