Technical Description

The 2022 Haas VMT750 is a 3-axis vertical mill-turn center combining vertical machining center and CNC lathe capabilities in a single integrated platform. The VMT750 is built on the VF-5 VMC structural base and incorporates a turning spindle capable of 4,000 RPM at 30 HP, enabling full lathe operations including OD turning, boring, grooving, and threading on parts up to 8.3 inches in chuck diameter with a 3.5-inch spindle bore. The milling spindle operates at up to 8,100 RPM with 20 HP and uses an HSK-A63/T taper, supporting both milling and turning tool interfaces within the same spindle unit. A B-axis tilting head rotates from 0 degrees (turning position) to 90 degrees (vertical milling position), allowing seamless transition between mill and turn operations without part removal or refixturing. Milling X-axis travel of 25 inches and Z-axis travel of 31 inches accommodate a wide range of turned and milled part geometries. The 24-by-54-inch table accepts both workholding for milling operations and the turning chuck assembly, making the VMT750 highly adaptable for complex multi-operation parts. At 21,500 pounds, the machine provides the rigidity needed for stable turning and milling operations. The VMT750 runs the Haas Next Generation Control (NGC), which manages both mill and turn axes within a unified G-code environment, simplifying programming for combination operations. It is well suited to job shops and production facilities seeking to consolidate milling and turning operations onto a single machine to reduce setup time and improve part accuracy.
