Technical Description

The Hardinge GS150 is a 2-axis CNC turning center from Hardinge's GS-Series line of slant-bed lathes, built for higher-efficiency, heavy-duty cutting. It uses a rigid, strategically ribbed 45-degree slant-bed, one-piece cast-iron base, FEA-optimized for structural stability, together with C2-class pre-tensioned ball screws and heavy-duty linear roller guideways on the X and Z axes for repeatable accuracy (ISO 230-2 full-stroke positioning accuracy of 0.01 mm and repeatability of 0.005 mm). The standard configuration pairs an A2-5 spindle nose with a 6-inch three-jaw chuck and a 45 mm through-draw-tube bore, driven by a 12 kW (FANUC drive, S3 25% rating) motor to a maximum of 6,000 rpm. Machining capacity covers a 284 mm maximum machining diameter and 406 mm maximum turning length, with 218 mm X-axis and 406 mm Z-axis travel at 30 m/min rapid traverse. The standard hydraulically driven 12-station VDI turret indexes station-to-station in 0.35 seconds (0.09 seconds with the optional servo-driven turret) and accepts 20 mm square-shank or 32 mm round-shank tooling, with optional live tooling and C-axis. Standard control is a FANUC 0i-TF; a Siemens 828D control is offered as an option. Factory options include a programmable MT#4 tailstock, bar feeder, parts catcher, chip conveyor, and high-pressure through-turret coolant.
