Technical Description

The Hardinge GS 200 MY is a 2-axis CNC turning center from Hardinge's GS Series, fitted with Hardinge's optional "MY" live-tooling/C-axis package (12-station VDI turret with live tooling for milling, drilling, tapping and boring). The base GS 200 has an A2-6 spindle nose with a 62 mm (2.44 in) through-bore, driven at up to 5,000 rpm by a 12 kW (S3 25%, 16.1 hp) Fanuc spindle motor delivering 183 N-m of torque, and takes an 8 in (210 mm) 3-jaw chuck. Maximum machining diameter is 284 mm (11.18 in) over a 406 mm (16.0 in) turning length, with X/Z travel of 218/406 mm and 30 m/min rapid traverse on both axes. The 12-station hydraulic turret indexes in 0.35 sec (0.09 sec motor-only) and takes 20 mm square or 32 mm round shanks. Standard control is a Fanuc 0i-TF with an 8.4 in color LCD; a Siemens 828D control is a factory option. Positioning accuracy is 0.01 mm full-stroke with 0.005 mm repeatability (ISO 230-2). Overall machine size is 1,998 x 1,551 x 1,781 mm and it weighs 2,800 kg (6,173 lb). Options include a programmable MT#4 tailstock, a parts catcher, a bar feeder (up to 65 mm bar), coolant/air through the turret, and an automatic gantry part exchanger.
