Technical Description

The J&M TN300A Manual Lathe is a precision-engineered bench lathe designed for versatile turning applications in workshops and industrial environments. Featuring an induction hardened, precision ground V-way bed, the machine ensures exceptional rigidity and long-term accuracy. The spindle, supported by high-quality tapered roller bearings and equipped with a D1-4 spindle nose, provides reliable performance and secure chuck mounting. The spindle bore measures 1.50 inches (38 mm), accommodating a wide range of workpieces. With a swing over bed of 11.81 inches (300 mm) and a swing over gap of 430 mm, the TN300A offers flexibility for larger diameter work. The headstock contains hardened, precision ground gears for smooth operation and durability. The lathe includes both 3-jaw (160 mm) and 4-jaw (200 mm) chucks, a face plate (250 mm), steady rest, follow rest, taper turning attachment, and a digital readout system for enhanced precision. The gearbox delivers a broad range of feeds and threading options, supporting both metric and imperial threads. Spindle speeds range from 75 to 1400 rpm across 9 steps, allowing optimal cutting conditions for various materials. The carriage-mounted spindle control lever, adjustable gibs, and fully interlocked automatic feed and threading functions improve operator convenience and safety. The tailstock can be offset for taper turning, and the quill features a MT3 taper. The machine is equipped with a halogen work lamp and a coolant system. With a motor power of 1.1 kW and a net weight of approximately 540–620 kg, the TN300A combines robust construction with user-friendly features for efficient and accurate manual turning operations.
