Technical Description
The KAAST MACHINE TOOLS C-TURN 270/1000 Manual Lathe is a precision-engineered engine lathe designed for demanding turning applications. Featuring a 21.0-inch swing over the bed and a 14.0-inch swing over the cross slide, it provides ample capacity for a wide range of workpieces. The distance between centers is 39.0 inches, allowing for extended part machining. The lathe is equipped with a robust 10.1 HP main spindle motor, delivering reliable power for heavy-duty operations. The spindle operates at speeds up to 1,545 RPM, with an 18-step gear range (25–1,545 RPM) and an optional inverter for variable speed control (27–2,250 RPM), ensuring optimal performance for various materials and cutting requirements. The spindle bore measures 3.30 inches, accommodating larger workpieces and tooling. Hardened and precision-ground guideways ensure long-term accuracy and durability, while the universal-type gearbox enables cutting of metric, Whitworth, module, and diametral threads without the need for gear changes. Standard features include a 3-axis digital readout, 4-post toolholder, work light, coolant system, backsplash guard, chuck guard, footbrake, and tool kit. The feed handwheel can be positioned on either the left or right side for operator convenience. The lathe’s bed width is 13.5 inches, with X-axis travel of 12.8 inches and Z-axis toolholder travel of 5.85 inches. The tailstock quill has a diameter of 2.9 inches, travel of 6.6 inches, and a MT5 taper. This lathe is ideal for shops requiring high precision, versatility, and ease of operation in manual turning applications.
