Technical Description
The Mazak HYPER QUADREX 100MSY (HQR-100MSY) is a two-spindle, two-turret multi-tasking CNC turning center for bar and chuck work. The main spindle and the opposed second spindle each carry a 6 in chuck, reach 6,000 rpm and are driven by 11 kW (15 hp) motors rated 7.5 kW (10 hp) continuous. The spindle bore is 2.4 in and bar capacity is 2.0 in. Upper and lower 12-station turrets both have Y-axis travel of 4 in (plus or minus 2 in) and accept rotary tools driven at up to 6,000 rpm by a 5.5 kW (7.5 hp) motor. Both turrets can cut on the same part for balanced cutting, or work on the main and second spindles at the same time so that first and second operations run together. Maximum machining diameter is 11.625 in and maximum machining length is 24.375 in, with a maximum swing of 12.6 in. Travels are 7 in X and 20 in Z on the upper turret and 4 in X and 23 in Z on the lower turret. Rapid traverse reaches 1,575 ipm on Z. Current machines use the MAZATROL SmoothG CNC, which supports conversational programming of both turrets as well as EIA/ISO programs. The machine occupies 113 in by 91 in of floor space, stands 96 in high and weighs 20,194 lb. Bar feeders, workpiece unloaders and robot loaders are available for unattended production.
