Technical Description

The Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 100 (QTN100) is a compact two-axis CNC turning center from Yamazaki Mazak's Quick Turn Nexus series, introduced in the early 2000s and later updated as the Quick Turn Nexus 100-II. It is designed for small bar and chucking work and is widely used in job shops and production cells. The machine has a single spindle with a 6 in chuck, a maximum spindle speed of 6,000 rpm and a spindle motor rated 15 hp (11 kW, 30-minute rating). Maximum machining diameter is 11.02 in and maximum machining length is 12.1 in, with a maximum swing of 21.65 in. A 12-station drum turret handles OD and ID tooling, and the turret indexes by the shortest path. The QTN100 was supplied with a Mazatrol conversational CNC control of the Nexus family (Mazatrol Fusion 640T Nexus on early machines and Mazatrol Matrix Nexus on later ones), which supports both conversational and EIA/ISO G-code programming. Common options include a tailstock, parts catcher, automatic tool eye, bar feeder interface and chip conveyor. Related versions add rotary milling tools (M), a second spindle (MS) or a Y-axis (MY).
