Technical Description

The Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 350-II (QTN350-II) is a heavy-duty slant-bed CNC turning center from Yamazaki Mazak's Quick Turn Nexus II series, sized for 12 in chuck work. The main spindle is a built-in AC spindle motor on a JIS A2-11 nose with a 4.41 in through-hole, rated 30 kW (40 hp) for 30 minutes and 22 kW (30 hp) continuous, with a speed range of 35 to 3,300 rpm and a maximum torque of 596 ft-lb. The series uses a twelve-sided drum turret and was built with different bed lengths; the QTN350-II MS and MSY versions add a second spindle, rotary tools and a Y-axis, while this plain model has a single spindle. Spindle bearings are grease lubricated and the headstock is cooled to limit thermal growth. Machines of this series were supplied with the MAZATROL MATRIX NEXUS conversational CNC, which also accepts EIA/ISO programming. The machine suits large-diameter shafts, flanges, valve bodies and oil-field parts cut from bar or chucked blanks.
