Technical Description

The Mazak QUICK TURN NEXUS 400-II is a large 2-axis CNC turning center for heavy chucking and shaft work. This row is the 2000U bed version, which gives a maximum machining length of 81.69 in (2,075 mm). Maximum swing is 33.27 in (845 mm) and maximum machining diameter is 22.8 in (580 mm). The main spindle carries a 12 in chuck, runs to 2,500 rpm and is rated 50 hp (37 kW) at its 30-minute rating. Bar work capacity is 4.0 in. The upper turret holds 12 tools. Axis travels on the 2000U bed are 12.13 in X and 83.5 in Z. The same model was built on 1000U and 3000U beds, with machining lengths of 40.35 in and 123.0 in, while the swing, machining diameter, chuck, spindle speed and motor rating stay the same across all three beds. The 400-II belongs to Mazak's QUICK TURN NEXUS-II series of turning centers. Within that series it sits below the QUICK TURN NEXUS 450-II, which shares the same swing and travels but uses an 18 in chuck, a 5.0 in bar capacity and a 2,000 rpm spindle.
