Technical Description

The Mori Seiki DuraTurn 2550 is a two-axis slant-bed CNC turning center from Mori Seiki's DuraTurn line, which was designed as a cost-effective, general-purpose lathe for job shops. It has a single A2-8 main spindle with a maximum speed of 3,000 rpm, driven by a motor rated 35 hp (26 hp continuous), and a swing over the bed of 24 in. Tooling is held on a 12-position turret, and a tailstock supports shaft work between centers. X-axis travel is 8.5 in and Z-axis travel is 22.4 in. The machine weighs 9,020 lbs. The DuraTurn 2550 handles chucking and shaft work in steel, cast iron and aluminum, including flanges, bushings, shafts and general repair and production parts. Machines built around 2006 to 2008 use the MORI-FANUC MSX-504 III control; later machines built under DMG MORI may carry a different control version. An MC version with live tooling and C-axis was also offered; this listing covers the two-axis model. Maximum turning diameter and length are listed differently by various sources and should be confirmed on the individual machine.
