Technical Description

The Mori Seiki NTX2000/1500S is a high-precision integrated mill-turn center in the X-class range, launched January 2011 for aerospace, medical-equipment and semiconductor parts. Of six NTX2000/1500 variants, the S configuration omits the second (lower) turret and tailstock while retaining the second (sub) spindle. It handles a maximum workpiece size of 660 mm (25.9 in) diameter by 1,540 mm (60.6 in) length, reaching the full 660 mm only with the tool spindle's B-axis at 90 degrees (610 mm standard). Distance between centers is 1,500 mm. Spindle 1 and Spindle 2 share identical specifications and both reach 5,000 min-1. The tool spindle has a built-in motor rated 18.5/11 kW, equivalent to a No. 40-taper machining-center spindle, reaching 12,000 min-1 with 1.25-second tool change from a 38-tool magazine (76-tool optional), BT40 shank standard. The machine uses Mori Seiki's DDM, ORC and BMT technologies, three-point bed support and the MAPPS IV operating system with ESPRIT CAM and standard 3D interference checking. Overall footprint and weight are not published separately for the S configuration (they differ from the turret-2 SZ variant) and are left blank.
