Technical Description

The Nakamura-Tome TW-8 is a high-performance, horizontally opposed, twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC turning center designed for precision and efficiency in demanding production environments. Each main spindle delivers a maximum turning diameter of 7.500" and a turning length of 4.500", with a 6.000" chuck diameter and a maximum bar diameter capacity of 1.340". Both spindles operate at up to 6,000 RPM and are powered by 10 HP motors, enabling high-speed machining and robust material removal. The machine features two independent 12-station turrets (Turret L and Turret R), each capable of holding up to 12 turning tools and 12 rotary tools, allowing for versatile tooling configurations and simultaneous operations. With a total of 24 tool stations and the ability to use two cutting tools simultaneously, the TW-8 maximizes productivity and minimizes cycle times. The 4-axis configuration provides X-axis travel of 7.280" and Z-axis travel of 7.870", with rapid traverse rates of 472 ipm on X, Y, and Z axes for swift positioning and reduced non-cutting time. The compact footprint and advanced CNC control system ensure high accuracy, repeatability, and ease of integration into automated manufacturing cells. Ideal for complex, high-volume parts, the TW-8 excels in simultaneous machining on both spindles, reducing setups and increasing throughput for a wide range of applications.
