A+Technical Description
The ROMI C 510 is a versatile horizontal CNC lathe designed for precision turning and bar-fed applications. This two-axis machine features a 520mm (20.47") swing over bed with a maximum turning diameter of 17.7" and accommodates bar stock up to 2.5" in diameter. The spindle is driven by an 11-15 kW (15 hp) motor with a continuous speed range from 2-3,000 rpm, supported by precision bearings with high load capacity to ensure rigidity and vibration absorption under severe cutting conditions. The main spindle features an 8" hydraulically-operated chuck with an optional 10" chuck capacity and a 65mm spindle bore. Equipped with a Siemens 802D CNC control system, the C 510 operates with dual-axis capability providing 11.02" of X-axis travel and 61.22" of Z-axis travel, both with maximum feed rates and rapid traverse speeds of 393 ipm. The machine accommodates multiple tooling configurations, including a square post primary tool carrier with 4 turning tools and an optional 8-station automatic turret for enhanced productivity. A key feature is the Romi Manual Machining Package (RMMP), which enables simple operations without complex programming—operators can work in manual mode using handwheels or automatic mode with a joystick. The machine's robust structure, combined with longitudinal chip conveyor systems and hydraulic-operated tailstock options, makes it suitable for diverse machining applications requiring precision and reliability in production environments.
