Technical Description

The ROMI C 510 is a flat-bed CNC lathe in the ROMI C Series, built by Industrias Romi in Brazil. It is supplied with a Siemens Sinumerik 828D CNC with canned turning and drilling cycles, 2D simulation and the Program Guide conversational system, and the carriage has electronic handwheels so the X and Z axes can be run like an engine lathe. The machine has a 260 mm (10.2 in) center height, 520 mm (20.5 in) swing over the bed, 255 mm (10 in) swing over the cross slide and 1,500 mm (59 in) between centers. Cross-slide travel is 280 mm (11 in) and carriage travel is 1,555 mm (61 in). The direct-drive headstock is offered with an ASA A2-6 spindle nose (65 mm bore, 3 to 3,000 rpm) or an A2-8 nose (80 mm bore, 2 to 2,200 rpm), driven by a 15 hp (11 kW) AC main motor at the S6-40% rating. The bed is 340 mm (13.4 in) wide with hardened and ground guideways. The manual tailstock has an 80 mm MT-4 quill with 130 mm stroke; pneumatic or hydraulic quill drive is optional. Options include an 8-station automatic turret, a VDI-50 tool holder with driven tools, quick-change and rear tool holders, 8 in or 10 in hydraulic chucks, and steady and follow rests. Floor space is 3.75 x 1.68 m (148 x 66 in) and net weight is about 3,750 kg (8,200 lb) without chip conveyor.
