The Victor S2280S is a precision heavy-duty manual lathe engineered for efficient machining of large, demanding workpieces. This machine features a substantial 21.97-inch swing over bedways and 79.84-inch distance between centers, providing ample capacity for extended turning operations. The large 4.13-inch spindle bore with D1-11 spindle nose accommodates considerable workholding capabilities and tooling versatility. With a maximum spindle speed of 1,200 RPM across 12 selectable speed steps ranging from 15 to 1,200 RPM, operators can optimize cutting parameters for various materials and applications. The 14.13-inch swing over cross slide enables precise lateral positioning for complex turned profiles. Construction incorporates a Meehanite casting bed with hardened and ground ways for superior rigidity and accuracy, complemented by a 10 HP three-phase main motor delivering robust cutting power. The lathe features a universal inch/metric gearbox supporting 60 different thread pitches in both systems, alongside variable longitudinal and cross feeds ranging from 0.0014" to 0.0387" per revolution. A dual-speed tailstock quill with 1:1 and 1:5 ratios facilitates efficient drilling operations. The cross slide is induction hardened to HRC 52° and precision ground, while Turcite B-coated slideways between saddle and bed ensure smooth carriage movement.
