Technical Description

The 2010 Akira Seiki SR3 XP is a 3-axis vertical machining center from Akira Seiki's JR/SR Performa Junior series, representing the largest model in the SR Performa lineup with the widest worktable in this series. The SR3 XP features a BT-40 spindle taper with a 15 HP peak motor and a maximum spindle speed of 11,000 RPM. The worktable measures 910 by 380 millimeters (36 by 15 inches) with a standard workpiece load capacity of 660 kilograms. Axis travels are 762 mm (30 inches) in X, 430 mm (16.9 inches) in Y, and 460 mm (18.1 inches) in Z. Rapid traverse rates are 36 m/min in X and Y and 30 m/min in Z. A 20-tool arm-type ATC is standard with a chip-to-chip time of 2.2 seconds. The machine is controlled by the Akira Mi:845 system (Fanuc G-code compatible). Overall machine dimensions are approximately 102 by 76 inches (2,600 by 1,935 mm), with a machine weight of approximately 3,375 kilograms (7,441 pounds). The SR3 XP was designed to bridge the gap between the compact SR2 and the larger V-series, offering more worktable length while retaining the compact footprint and affordability of the Performa Junior platform. Standard equipment includes flood coolant, chip screw conveyor, automatic lubrication, and full enclosure.
