Technical Description

The 2022 Brother Speedio S500X2 is a 3-axis high-speed machining center and tapping center produced by Brother Industries, Ltd. (Japan), representing the second-generation successor to the S500X1 with improved spindle motor continuous ratings and faster tool change performance. The machine features a single-pallet worktable measuring 23.6 inches by 15.7 inches with a maximum load of 551 lbs (up to 661 lbs with parameter adjustment). The spindle uses a BT30 (MAS 7/24 taper No. 30) interface and is driven by a motor rated at 10 HP (7.1 kW) continuous (S1) at the standard 10,000 RPM configuration; optional spindle variants include 16,000 RPM, 27,000 RPM, and high-torque 10,000 RPM configurations. X-axis travel is 19.7 inches (500mm), Y-axis travel is 15.7 inches (400mm), and Z-axis travel is 11.8 inches (300mm). The machine is equipped with a Brother CNC-C00 proprietary control system fully compatible with Fanuc G-code. Rapid traverse rates reach 1,969 IPM (50 m/min) on X and Y axes and 2,205 IPM (56 m/min) on Z. The X2-generation ATC achieves tool-to-tool change in 0.7 seconds and chip-to-chip in 1.3 seconds with the 14-tool magazine — an improvement over the X1 generation. The 14 or 21-tool random-access carousel is standard. Standard equipment includes coolant system and automatic lubrication.
