Technical Description

The 2010 DMG MORI SEIKI DMF 180 LINEAR is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center featuring linear direct drives on all axes for high dynamic performance across extended axis travels. The machine is built on a longitudinal bed design with a fixed gantry column, providing an expansive worktable measuring 82.7 inches by 27.6 inches with generous workpiece capacity. Linear drive technology eliminates mechanical wear associated with ballscrew systems, delivering higher acceleration rates, improved positioning accuracy, and reduced maintenance requirements. The motor spindle delivers 25 kW of continuous power at speeds up to 18,000 RPM via an HSK-A63 interface, supporting both high-speed aluminum finishing and steel roughing operations. Axis travels of 70.9 inches (X), 27.6 inches (Y), and 27.6 inches (Z) are designed for large panel components, mold bases, and structural aerospace parts. The CNC platform is Siemens 840D sl with CELOS operator interface, or optionally Heidenhain iTNC 530, providing advanced 5-axis cycle packages, surface quality optimization, and network connectivity. Rapid traverse of up to 100 m/min on linear-driven axes minimizes non-productive time in high-mix production. The DMF 180 LINEAR is suited to aerospace panel machining, large mold and die production, automotive structural components, and energy sector part fabrication.
