Technical Description

The 2022 DMG MORI SEIKI DMU 50 GEN III is a 5-axis universal machining center of the third generation, combining a compact monoBLOCK structure with full simultaneous 5-axis capability for precision part production. The direct-drive swivel/tilt rotary table of 630 mm diameter provides B-axis motion from -35° to +110° and full 360° C-axis rotation, accepting workpieces up to 300 kg and 630 mm in diameter. The speedMASTER spindle delivers 21 kW of continuous power at speeds up to 15,000 RPM via an HSK-A63 taper, with optional configurations extending to 20,000 RPM or higher-torque power packages for demanding cutting applications. Axis travels of 650 mm (X), 520 mm (Y), and 475 mm (Z) reflect an expanded working envelope compared to earlier DMU 50 generations. The monoBLOCK cast structure minimizes thermal deformation and structural compliance under cutting loads, supporting tight tolerances in extended 5-axis production cycles. The machine footprint of under 5 m² makes it one of the most space-efficient 5-axis machining centers in its payload class. The CNC system is Siemens 840D sl with CELOS or Heidenhain TNC 640, enabling seamless integration with digital manufacturing environments. A standard 30-pocket ATC supports unattended operation. The DMU 50 GEN III is suited to aerospace, medical, automotive, and die/mold applications requiring consistent simultaneous 5-axis accuracy across production volumes.
