Technical Description
The 2020 DMG MORI SEIKI DMU 160 P duoBLOCK is a 5-axis universal machining center of the duoBLOCK design, purpose-built for large-format precision machining in aerospace, energy, and heavy manufacturing applications. The NC rotary table of 1,600 mm diameter accommodates workpieces up to 1,600 mm in diameter, 1,775 mm in height, and 4,500 kg in weight, enabling machining of the largest aerospace frames, turbine housings, and structural components in a single setup. The standard speedMASTER spindle delivers 35 kW of continuous power at speeds up to 15,000 RPM via an HSK-A100 interface, with optional powerMASTER (77 kW) and torqueMASTER (52 kW / 1,800 Nm) spindle configurations available for heavy-duty material removal. Axis travels of 1,600 mm (X), 1,600 mm (Y), and 1,100 mm (Z) define the largest working envelope in the standard DMU P series range. Rapid traverse of 60 m/min on all linear axes and high axis acceleration rates support efficient large-part production cycles. The duoBLOCK twin-casting design decouples thermal sources for superior volumetric accuracy over extended production periods. The CNC system is Siemens 840D sl or Heidenhain iTNC 530 / TNC 640 depending on year, with full 5-axis cycle packages and thermal compensation as standard. A standard 60-pocket ATC supports complex multi-operation workpieces. The DMU 160 P duoBLOCK is a high-capability platform for aerospace prime contractors, defense manufacturers, and energy component producers requiring large-format 5-axis precision machining.
