Technical Description

The 2000 Fadal VMC2016L is a 3-axis vertical machining center based on the VMC2016 platform with an extended long-table configuration for increased workholding capacity. Manufactured at Fadal Engineering's facility in Chatsworth, California, the VMC2016L retains the core 20 by 16-inch axis travel of the VMC2016 while providing a physically longer table casting to accommodate larger fixtures, tombstones, or multiple part setups along the X-axis. The machine features a CAT40 taper spindle with 15 HP of continuous power at a standard maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, with optional 10,000 and 15,000 RPM spindle packages available. Axis travels are 20 inches in X, 16 inches in Y, and 20 inches in Z. Box-way construction provides the rigidity and damping characteristics that define the Fadal VMC family. Machine control is the Fadal CNC 88HS Plus, supporting conversational and ISO G-code programming with broad compatibility across Fadal tooling, fixturing, and programming libraries. The 21-tool automatic tool changer supports unattended multi-operation production. Machine weight is approximately 9,500 lbs. The VMC2016L is a practical choice for shops that need the compact X-Y envelope of the 2016 with the additional table length for fixture versatility or multi-vise setups.
