Technical Description

The 2020 Fadal VMC6535 is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed for high-volume production machining of steel, aluminum, and cast iron workpieces. Built on a robust cast iron base and column, the VMC6535 delivers rigid, thermally stable performance across extended production runs. The machine features a CAT40 spindle taper, providing broad tooling compatibility with standard 40-taper toolholders. Axis travels measure 65" in X, 35" in Y, and 25" in Z, accommodating a wide range of part sizes. The 65" x 35" worktable provides ample fixturing area with standard T-slots for workholding setup. The spindle reaches a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, suitable for a variety of cutting strategies from heavy roughing to finish milling. Continuous spindle power is rated at 20 HP. The machine is controlled by the Fadal CNC 88HS, which offers conversational and G-code programming, canned cycles, rigid tapping, and tool length compensation. The automatic tool changer holds up to 21 tools (30-tool optional on some configurations), enabling extended unattended operation. Rapid traverse rates on all axes allow efficient non-cutting moves between operations. The overall machine weight of approximately 26,000 lbs reflects the heavy cast iron construction that underpins the VMC6535's rigidity and vibration damping.
