Technical Description

The 2017 Fadal VMC8030HT is a 3-axis vertical machining center combining Fadal's largest standard-travel platform with the HT (High-Torque) geared spindle drive. This configuration is optimized for heavy roughing operations in steel, cast iron, and titanium where low-end torque is more critical than peak spindle speed. Built on a massive cast iron base, the VMC8030HT delivers exceptional structural rigidity and vibration damping across its full 80" x 30" x 25" work envelope. The 80" x 30" worktable supports large weldments, structural components, and multi-part fixture setups. Axis travels of 80" in X, 30" in Y, and 25" in Z provide one of the largest machining envelopes available in the Fadal VMC range. The CAT40 spindle taper is compatible with the full range of standard production toolholders. Maximum spindle speed is 7,500 RPM, with continuous power rated at 25 HP in the high-torque configuration — delivering the cutting force necessary for aggressive material removal on oversized workpieces. Control is handled by the Fadal CNC 88HS, providing G-code and conversational programming, canned cycles, rigid tapping, and tool length compensation. The 21-tool automatic tool changer (30-tool optional) supports extended unattended production runs. The machine's approximate weight of 30,000 lbs reflects the heavy-duty cast iron construction that is central to the VMC8030HT's performance in demanding manufacturing environments.
