Technical Description

The 2023 FANUC D21S is a 3-axis compact drilling, tapping, and milling center from the FANUC RoboDrill alpha-D21SiB5 Plus series, designed for high-speed, high-precision machining of small precision components across automotive, electronics, and medical device industries. Built on FANUC's S-size platform with a BBT30 dual-contact spindle, the D21S delivers exceptional rigidity and surface finish at speeds up to 10,000 RPM standard, with an optional 24,000 RPM high-speed spindle available. The 630 x 330 mm worktable supports workpieces up to 200 kg within a compact X/Y/Z travel envelope of 300 x 300 x 330 mm, with an additional 100 mm Y-axis extension available. The 21-tool arm-type ATC achieves tool changes in 0.9 seconds, minimizing non-cutting time. Powered by the FANUC Series 31i-B5 Plus CNC, the machine supports full FANUC macro capability, AI contour control II, and the FANUC i-HMI for intuitive operation. Rapid traverse rates of 33 m/min keep cycle times short. Spindle power is rated at approximately 5.4 HP continuous with peak output near 19 HP at one minute on the standard spindle variant. The machine weighs approximately 4,400 lbs in base configuration and approximately 4,850 lbs with the optional DDR-TiB direct-drive rotary table. Machine footprint is approximately 55 inches long by 75 inches wide, making it suitable for dense production cell layouts. Rigid construction ensures longevity under demanding production schedules.
