Technical Description

The 2016 FANUC D21SIA5 is a 5-axis compact drilling, tapping, and milling center from the FANUC RoboDrill alpha-D21SiA5 DiA-generation series. Combining 5-axis simultaneous interpolation with FANUC's proven compact machining platform, the D21SIA5 targets high-mix, low-volume production of complex small parts in automotive, aerospace components, medical devices, and precision electronics. The machine is built on FANUC's S-size bed with a BBT30 dual-contact spindle operating at up to 10,000 RPM standard, with a 24,000 RPM optional spindle for aluminum and non-ferrous applications. The 630 x 330 mm worktable holds workpieces to 200 kg within a 300 x 300 x 330 mm travel envelope. A 21-tool arm-type ATC provides 0.9-second tool-to-tool changes. The FANUC Series 31i-B5 CNC delivers full 5-axis simultaneous interpolation, FANUC macro B, AI contour control, and FANUC SERVO GUIDE compatibility. Continuous spindle power is approximately 5 HP with peak output near 15 HP. The compact machine weighs approximately 4,300 lbs and occupies a footprint roughly 40 inches long by 95 inches wide. The 5-axis configuration enables complex multi-sided machining in a single setup, reducing fixturing costs and improving positional accuracy. The DiA generation introduced enhanced servo drives and control architecture relative to the prior T-series, resulting in improved surface finish and faster acceleration. Optional direct-drive rotary/tilt tables can be configured for full 5-axis contouring or 3+2 positional machining.
