A+Technical Description
The 2001 Fryer VB50 is a 3-axis vertical bridge (gantry-style) machining center manufactured by Fryer Machine Systems of Patterson, New York. The VB50 provides a 50-inch X-axis travel on a fixed bridge structure, offering enhanced rigidity and load capacity compared to conventional C-frame VMCs at this work envelope. The machine delivers X, Y, and Z travels of 50, 30, and 28 inches respectively, with a 63 x 20-inch worktable supporting up to 4,000 lbs. The CAT-40 spindle operates to 6,000 RPM with 20 HP, providing effective cutting power for steel, aluminum, and alloy workpieces. A 20-station automatic tool changer enables multi-operation setups. Rapid traverse rates of 1,000 IPM in X/Y minimize non-cutting time. CNC motion control is provided by the Anilam 5300M system. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 100 x 100 x 103 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 14,700 lbs. The VB50 is well suited to mold base machining, production fixtures, and structural components requiring a mid-size bridge VMC with reliable American-built construction and straightforward CNC control.
