A+Technical Description
The 2013 Haas OM-1A is a 3-axis compact office CNC milling machine and an updated variant of the OM-1, incorporating enhanced features from the OM-2 platform while retaining the same compact footprint of the original Office Mill series. The OM-1A is engineered for light-duty precision machining in space-constrained environments including engineering offices, educational laboratories, and prototype shops. The machine provides a 14 x 12 x 10 inch work envelope (X, Y, Z travels) and uses a CAT20 taper spindle operating at up to 6,000 RPM, powered by a 1.5 HP motor. This configuration is well-suited for machining aluminum, plastics, wax, and other soft materials in precision prototype and low-volume production contexts. High-precision ballscrews on all three axes ensure accurate and repeatable positioning. The Haas CNC control provides the same operator interface as full-size Haas machining centers, supporting seamless transition for operators already familiar with the Haas ecosystem. The fully enclosed design contains coolant and chips within the machine envelope, making the OM-1A appropriate for installation in office or lab settings. Standard features include an automatic tool changer and coolant system. At approximately 1,500 lbs, the machine is suitable for installations where floor loading capacity is limited. The OM-1A is an ideal solution for CNC training programs, hands-on product development, and precision small-part machining in environments where a full-size VMC is not practical.
