A+Technical Description
The 2004 Haas VF3D is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed specifically for die and mold applications, featuring an extended Y-axis travel of 26.5 inches compared to the standard VF3. X/Y/Z travels measure 40 x 26.5 x 25 inches, and workpieces are mounted on a 48 x 18 inch T-slot table capable of supporting the large, heavy blocks common in mold and die work. The extended Y travel allows the machine to reach across wide mold bases and die plates without repositioning, making it a practical choice for shops producing injection molds, die cast tooling, and large prismatic components. The CAT40 gearhead spindle delivers 30 HP of continuous power and reaches a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, providing the torque necessary for heavy roughing passes in pre-hardened and hardened tool steels. The 20+1 side-mount automatic tool changer accommodates a full range of roughing and finishing tools, and high-speed servo-driven axes with full-travel rapids reduce non-cutting time across the machine's large work envelope. The Haas CNC control provides conversational G-code programming, rigid tapping, tool-length compensation, cutter radius compensation, and machine diagnostics. Programmable coolant delivery and a chip auger support extended production cycles. The fully enclosed work envelope with interlocked doors meets standard safety requirements. At approximately 14,500 lbs with a footprint of roughly 160 x 107 x 106 inches, the VF3D combines the proven VF3 platform with the Y-axis reach demanded by the mold and die industry.
