Technical Description

The 2020 Haas VS3 is a 3-axis extra-large vertical machining center representing the largest X-axis configuration in Haas's VS series, designed for the most demanding large-part and long-workpiece machining requirements. The VS-3 provides axis travels of 150 inches in X, 50 inches in Y, and 50 inches in Z, accommodating workpieces of exceptional length on a 153-by-49-inch table with a 10,000-pound load capacity. A CAT/BT 50-taper spindle is driven through a two-speed gearbox rated at 30 HP continuous, with an optional high-performance 60 HP spindle for high-removal-rate applications. Maximum spindle speed of 7,500 RPM supports large-diameter tooling, face milling, and heavy roughing operations common in large-component manufacturing. The VS-3 extends the VS-1's work envelope by 50 additional inches of X travel, enabling processing of bridge components, aerospace structural assemblies, large tooling plates, and long extrusion dies without repositioning. Three tooling plates span the full table length, providing a flat, precision-machined work surface across the entire X axis. Box-way construction and a heavily ribbed casting maintain rigidity and accuracy across the 150-inch X travel during aggressive cutting cycles. A 50-position side-mount tool changer supports complex multi-step programs with numerous operations. This unit is equipped with the Haas Next Generation Control (NGC), offering an updated interface, faster processing, and improved network integration.
