Technical Description

The 2017 Hyundai WIA KF5600 STD is a 3-axis gantry-column vertical machining center designed for precision production machining of mid-size parts, combining the structural advantages of a gantry-column architecture with the versatility of a standard CAT 40 or BBT 40 spindle configuration. The machine provides 43.3-inch X-axis travel, 22-inch Y-axis travel, and 20.5-inch Z-axis travel (with optional 25-inch Z) across a 49.2-inch by 22-inch worktable with a maximum table load of 2,205 pounds. The gantry-column design distributes cutting forces through a straddled column to the machine base, delivering superior rigidity, vibration damping, and long-term accuracy compared to conventional C-frame vertical machining center designs. The BBT 40 dual-contact spindle delivers 15 horsepower continuous at up to 8,000 RPM standard, with 10,000, 12,000, 15,000, and 20,000 RPM options covering everything from heavy steel roughing to high-speed aluminum finishing. A 30-tool automatic tool changer (40- or 60-tool optional) supports complex multi-operation jobs. The machine is equipped with Fanuc CNC control (Hyundai WIA Smart Plus), with Siemens and Heidenhain options available. The machine measures approximately 152 inches long by 86 inches wide by 119 inches tall and weighs approximately 16,300 pounds. The KF5600 STD is well suited to precision die and mold production, aerospace components, and high-accuracy production machining.
