A+Technical Description
The 2006 Leadwell V80I is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center designed for machining very large workpieces requiring an 80-inch X-axis travel envelope in a rigid, high-power production platform. The fixed-column, moving-table design with heavy cast iron structure provides the rigidity and thermal stability for sustained accuracy across the full large work envelope. The worktable measures 82.7 by 40 inches (2,100 x 1,016 mm) and supports workpieces up to 4,000 lbs, with axis travels of 80 inches in X, 40 inches in Y, and 28 inches in Z. The CAT-40 spindle reaches 12,000 RPM with 35 to 41 HP of drive power, providing high-speed capability for aluminum combined with the torque for steel and cast iron machining. Feed rates of 944 IPM in X and Y and 786 IPM in Z maximize throughput. The Fanuc 18i CNC provides look-ahead interpolation, rigid tapping, high-speed machining cycles, and DNC networking. A 30-tool ATC enables extended multi-step programs. Machine weight is approximately 25,794 lbs (11,700 kg). The V80I is particularly well suited for large mold bases, aerospace structural panels, heavy press tooling, and industrial equipment requiring the largest-format VMC work envelope in the Leadwell lineup.
