Technical Description

The 2016 Matsuura MX-850 is a 5-axis vertical machining center engineered for simultaneous five-axis contouring of complex aerospace, die/mold, and medical components. Built on a trunnion-type rotary/tilt table architecture, the MX-850 accommodates workpieces up to Ø850 mm (33.5") diameter by 450 mm (17.7") tall within its standard Ø500 mm (19.68") rotary pallet; an optional Ø700 mm (27.55") extended pallet is also available. Linear axis travels are 900 mm (35.43") in X, 780 mm (30.70") in Y, and 650 mm (25.59") in Z, with the A-axis tilting from -125 deg to +30 deg and the C-axis providing full 360-degree continuous rotation. The BT40 spindle delivers approximately 35 HP (26 kW) continuous with a standard maximum speed of 12,000 RPM; optional configurations reach 15,000 or 20,000 RPM for high-speed finishing. A standard 60-tool arm-type ATC supports unattended and lights-out production, and an optional multi-pallet system of up to four pallets enables flexible manufacturing cell operation. The CNC is the Fanuc 30i-B 5-axis platform, providing full simultaneous five-axis interpolation, high-speed look-ahead contouring, and Matsuura Intelligent Technology (MiT) functions including thermal compensation and dynamic accuracy control. Workpiece load capacity is 500 kg (1,102 lbs). The MX-850 is a preferred platform for aerospace impeller, turbine blade, and precision mold machining where tight positional tolerances and excellent surface finish across complex sculptured surfaces are paramount requirements.
