Technical Description

The 2021 Agie Charmilles VCP800W Duro is a 3-axis high-performance vertical machining center from GF Machining Solutions' Mikron brand, engineered for demanding die and mold machining applications requiring exceptional surface quality and geometric accuracy. The machine features a 20,000 RPM spindle driven by a 16 kW (approximately 21.5 HP peak) motor through an HSK-63 taper interface, enabling high-speed cutting of hardened tool steels, graphite electrodes, and complex aluminum components. The worktable measures 1,050 by 590 millimeters (approximately 41.3 by 23.2 inches) and accommodates workpieces up to 400 kilograms. Axis travels are 800 mm (31.5 inches) in X, 450 mm (17.7 inches) in Y, and 450 mm (17.7 inches) in Z. Rapid traverse reaches 22 m/min on all axes. The machine is equipped with a 30-station tool magazine. The VCP800W Duro is distinguished by its thermally symmetric machine body and high-precision linear guideways, which together achieve positioning accuracies appropriate for precision mold cavities and medical components. Standard equipment on 2021 units includes Heidenhain or proprietary GF Machining Solutions control, coolant system, automatic lubrication, and full enclosure. The Duro series is specifically designed for dry or near-dry machining of hardened materials at elevated spindle speeds.
