A+Technical Description
The 2019 Brother Speedio R450X2 is a 3-axis high-speed tapping center and machining center produced by Brother Industries, Ltd. (Japan), representing the second-generation successor to the R450X1 with improved spindle motor ratings and faster tool change performance. The machine features a two-face pallet changer table with each pallet measuring 23.6 inches by 11.8 inches and a maximum load of 265 lbs per face. The spindle uses a BT30 (MAS 7/24 taper No. 30) interface and is driven by a motor rated at 10 HP (7.1 kW) continuous (S1) at the standard 10,000 RPM configuration; optional 16,000 RPM and high-torque 10,000 RPM spindle variants are available. X-axis travel is 17.7 inches (450mm), Y-axis travel is 12.6 inches (320mm), and Z-axis travel is 12.0 inches (305mm). The machine is equipped with a Brother CNC-C00 proprietary control system fully compatible with Fanuc G-code. Rapid traverse rates reach 1,969 IPM (50 m/min) on all three axes. The X2-generation ATC delivers chip-to-chip times of 1.4 seconds (14-tool) — faster than the X1 generation's 1.6 seconds — and tool-to-tool change of 0.7 seconds (14-tool). The Quick Turn 2-face pallet changer enables simultaneous machining and loading for maximum production throughput. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 104 inches deep by 55 inches wide by 102 inches tall, with a machine weight of approximately 5,954 lbs. Standard equipment includes coolant and automatic lubrication. The R450X2 is well suited for high-volume production of small precision components in automotive, aerospace, and medical manufacturing.
