Technical Description

The 2006 Chiron FZ08 is a 3-axis CNC vertical machining center produced by Chiron Group SE of Tuttlingen, Germany, built on the high-speed compact FZ08 platform. The traveling-column architecture delivers very high rapid traverse rates characteristic of Chiron's HSK-A40 spindle platform, optimized for short cycle times in aluminum and light alloy production. The spindle delivers approximately 7 kW (9.4 HP) in the standard configuration — with the platform supporting up to 18 kW in high-power variants — and reaches maximum speeds of 27000 RPM through HSK-A40 toolholding. Axis travels are 450 mm (17.7 inches) in X, 270 mm (10.6 inches) in Y, and 310 mm (12.2 inches) in Z. The work table measures approximately 770 x 290 mm (30.3 x 11.4 inches). Control is provided by the Fanuc 21i-M system. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 90.9 x 55.3 x 96.3 inches (2,308 x 1,405 x 2,447 mm) and the machine weighs approximately 7,496 lbs (3,400 kg). A rotary table option enables 4th/5th-axis configurations for multi-sided part completion. Chiron's FZ08 series is well-regarded for very high chip-to-chip times and is widely used in automotive, electronics, and precision subcontract machining environments.
