Technical Description

The 2010 Chiron MPS15 is a multi-axis CNC profiling and machining station from Chiron Group SE of Tuttlingen, Germany, based on the larger Series 15 platform. The MPS (Multi-Profile Station) designation indicates a specialized configuration for machining extruded profiles, structural sections, and bar stock with complex cross-sections, using synchronized NC rotary axes to guide and present the workpiece to the machining spindle. This architecture supports machining of aluminum extrusions, structural sections, and round bar stock with complex features across multiple faces in a single continuous program. The machine supports 5 or more simultaneous CNC axes including the linear X, Y, and Z axes plus synchronized profile-rotation axes. The spindle reaches approximately 10,000 RPM through SK-40 or HSK-A63 tooling. Profile stock of up to approximately 150 x 150 mm cross-section can be accommodated depending on configuration. Control is provided by the Siemens 840D sl CNC platform, appropriate for the multi-axis synchronized motion required by profile machining. Overall machine dimensions, spindle power, and weight were not confirmed from publicly available documentation and should be obtained from Chiron Group directly by serial number. The MPS15 is deployed in aluminum extrusion processing, automotive profiles, window and door frame machining, and aerospace structural section manufacturing.
