Technical Description

The 2022 Clausing SH1020 is a 3-axis CNC vertical machining center from Clausing Industrial's Storm SH series, a full production VMC built in Taiwan and representing a significant capability step beyond Clausing's traditional knee mill and bed mill products. The CAT-40 spindle delivers 20 HP and reaches a maximum speed of 10,000 RPM as standard, with optional 12,000 or 15,000 RPM high-speed spindles available for aluminum and non-ferrous applications. The work table measures 43.3 x 22 inches with a 2,205 lb table load capacity, and axis travels extend 40.15 inches in X, approximately 20 to 22 inches in Y, and 22 to 23.6 inches in Z. Rapid traverse reaches up to 36 m/min (approximately 1,417 IPM). A 24-station side-mounted arm-type ATC enables efficient multi-operation production cycles. Control is provided by the Fanuc 0i-MF CNC system on the 2022 production run, a well-supported platform with broad post-processor compatibility. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 104 x 102.5 x 102.5 inches and the machine weighs approximately 11,464 lbs. Box-way construction on all axes delivers excellent rigidity for heavy ferrous cutting, and the machine is well-suited for general production machining, mold and die work, and fixture manufacturing. The SH1020 is positioned as a mid-range production VMC combining Clausing's service network with a robust Taiwanese-built platform.
