A+Technical Description
The 2007 DMG DMU 70 is a 5-axis universal machining center built on the swivel/tilt rotary table platform that allows 5-sided and simultaneous 5-axis machining in a single setup. The machine features a 630 mm diameter rotary table capable of supporting workpieces up to 630 mm in diameter and 500 mm in height, with B-axis swivel providing -5° to +161° range and full 360° C-axis rotation. The motor spindle delivers up to 25 kW of continuous power at speeds reaching 18,000 RPM through an SK 40 spindle interface, enabling both high-speed finishing and heavy roughing operations. Linear axis travels of 750 mm (X), 600 mm (Y), and 520 mm (Z) accommodate a wide variety of part sizes. The machine structure provides high dynamic stiffness suited to die and mold machining, aerospace components, and precision parts production. The CNC control is a Heidenhain iTNC 530 ERGOline panel, providing conversational and DIN/ISO programming with advanced 5-axis cycle support. A 30-pocket tool magazine is standard. Rapid traverse of 40 m/min across all linear axes supports high-throughput production scheduling. The DMU 70 of this generation established the platform's reputation for precision 5-axis capability in medium-format part ranges.
