A+Technical Description
The 2021 Doosan VM1260 is a 3-axis large-capacity die and mold vertical machining center designed for machining of very large mold bases, heavy structural components, and oversized industrial parts. The machine provides 98.4 inches of X-axis travel, 49.6 inches in Y, and 35.4 inches in Z over a work table measuring 110.2 x 49.6 inches with a maximum table load of 17,637 lbs (8,000 kg). The ISO 50 standard gear-drive spindle delivers 24.8 HP (18.5 kW continuous) at up to 6,000 RPM with high torque suited to large-diameter face milling, heavy boring, and deep-cavity roughing operations in hardened steel and cast iron; a built-in 12,000 RPM motorized spindle option is available for finishing work. The Fanuc 31i-A CNC control is standard, with Siemens 840D sl and Heidenhain iTNC 530 available as options. A 40-tool ATC and through-spindle coolant support extended unmanned production cycles. The VM1260's thermally symmetrical casting structure and oversized ballscrews maintain positioning accuracy across its wide travel envelope under heavy cutting loads. Rapid traverse rates of 12 m/min on all axes reflect the machine's focus on high-torque material removal rather than high-speed light cuts. The machine occupies a footprint of approximately 222.2 x 273.2 inches, stands 154.7 inches tall, and weighs approximately 68,343 lbs (31,000 kg), placing it among Doosan's heaviest and most capable die and mold VMC platforms.
