A+Technical Description
The 2014 Doosan VM960L is a 3-axis die and mold vertical machining center and the long-travel variant of the VM960 platform, extending the X-axis to 94.5 inches (2,400 mm) for machining of very large mold bases and extended industrial components. The machine provides 94.5 inches of X-axis travel, 37.8 inches in Y, and 31.5 inches in Z over a work table measuring 102.4 x 37.4 inches with a maximum table load of 9,921 lbs (4,500 kg). The ISO 50 gear-drive spindle delivers 20 HP continuous at up to 6,000 RPM and 698.8 Nm of torque, with an optional built-in 12,000 RPM motorized spindle for high-speed finishing. The Fanuc 31i-A CNC control is standard, with Siemens 840D sl and Heidenhain iTNC 530 available as options. A 30-tool ATC and through-spindle coolant support extended machining programs across the long X-axis envelope. The VM960L shares the same Y, Z, spindle, and height specifications as the base VM960, differing only in extended X-travel and table length, plus the corresponding increase in machine footprint width and weight. Its thermally symmetric casting and oversized guideways maintain accuracy under the heavy cutting loads characteristic of large automotive and industrial mold work. The machine footprint measures approximately 202.3 x 267.7 inches with an installed height of 139.6 inches and a total weight of approximately 46,297 lbs (21,000 kg).
