A+Technical Description
The 2001 Fadal VMC3016 FX is a 3-axis vertical machining center based on Fadal's VMC3016 platform, enhanced with the FX package that adds a flood coolant system and provisions for optional high-speed spindle configurations. The VMC3016 FX shares the core geometry of the standard VMC3016, offering axis travels of 30 inches in X, 16 inches in Y, and 20 inches in Z, with a worktable measuring 30 by 16 inches. The table is equipped with standard T-slots for workholding. The spindle accepts CAT40 tooling and operates at a standard maximum speed of 7,500 RPM, driven by a 15 HP continuous-rated motor. The FX designation indicates availability of an upgraded flood coolant delivery system integrated into the machine enclosure, improving chip evacuation and thermal control during extended production runs. Optional 10,000 RPM and 15,000 RPM high-speed spindle upgrades were available at time of manufacture, making the FX variant well suited to aluminum and non-ferrous high-speed applications. The 2001 VMC3016 FX is equipped with the Fadal CNC 88HS control, a capable platform offering conversational and G-code programming, rigid tapping, and DNC compatibility. The automatic tool changer provides tool management for unattended operation. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 80 inches long by 68 inches wide by 84 inches tall, with a machine weight of approximately 14,000 pounds. The casting weight supports vibration damping and cutting stability. The VMC3016 FX is appropriate for general-purpose production machining of aluminum, steel, and cast iron in job shop and light manufacturing environments.
